APPLICATION SUBMITTED FOR MAJOR MAGNA PARK EXPANSION

29 June 2026

Over 3 million sq ft of strategic distribution floorspace could be created at Magna Park, Lutterworth if plans are approved.

An application has been submitted by Marq Logistics (formerly GLP) to create a further 8 industrial units, ranging in size between 156,014 sq ft and 704,589 sq ft, on a 123-hectare site together with an extension of Bittesby Country Park and associated infrastructure including energy centre, drainage, parking, landscaping and substantial biodiversity gains.

Our Land & Planning Director, Trevor Wells has acted on behalf of the landowners whose land forms the application site.

Trevor comments: “Landowners should always seek specialist advice when considering the future of their land. Magna Park is a proven logistics location with strong occupier demand, and current market conditions indicate that now is the right time for expansion. As trusted advisers to landowners considering opportunities in the logistics sector, we help clients realise the full potential of their land while aligning decisions with broader family, succession and estate planning goals."

If approved, this application will further cement Magna Park as a leading logistics hub. The proposed development will deliver a coherent, sustainable extension to the existing campus, and become a fundamental driver of economic growth in the region.

Trevor continues: “Magna Park has already created exemplar buildings and employment opportunities across multiple sectors and is widely recognised as one of Europe’s largest dedicated distribution centres. This application intends to build on this reputation, creating BREEAM Excellent rated units and robust green infrastructure.

“In addition, calculations estimate the creation of circa 7,000 jobs across the Park, Harborough District and wider East Midlands, as well as substantial transport improvements, including a newly proposed roundabout and link road to Harrier Parkway Roundabout. We hope this application will be viewed as a logical opportunity to extend Magna Park, safeguarding the region’s long-term future as a premier logistics location,” adds Trevor.
